BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The SBU tennis teams swept the first part of a back-to-back, taking Friday night's dual matches over Graceland (Iowa) University. The SBU women won their fourth straight match with a 7-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets while the SBU men notched their sixth straight with a 6-3 win.

The Bearcat women improved to 10-4 by taking two of three doubles matches and then winning five of six in singles play. Jolee Cook, Johanna Olsson and Faiga Schmidt won in straight sets while Jenna Hendrickson and Misti Janisch's opponents were hampered by injuries.

On the men's side, the Bearcats trailed the strong NAIA Jackets following the doubles matches before rallying to handle the singles matches. The top four Bearcats won in straight sets with Brandon Finerty coming back to win in a third set super tiebreaker.

The SBU men also received good news on Thursday. Northwest Missouri's 5-4 victory over Washburn gave SBU a share of the MIAA regular season men's championship.

The Bearcat teams are right back in action on Saturday morning, hosting Arkansas-Fort Smith at 9 a.m.
