BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The SBU women's tennis team completed a busy stretch of action, with two different types of wins Saturday. In the morning match with Nebraska-Omaha, the Bearcats won a 5-4 thriller over the Mavericks. In the afternoon contest with Missouri Western, SBU controlled the match and rolled to a 9-0 victory.

After the Mavs took two of three in doubles play, SBU responded with wins by their top three singles players. Johanna Olsson and Faiga Schmidt won in straight sets while Jolee Cook won a tight three-set match with UNO's Traci Moklestad (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5)). Omaha took the matches at #4 and #5 to even the score, before Jenna Hendrickson earned a hard-fought three-set win over Heather Hottman to clinch the match (6-7 (9-11), 6-2, 7-5).
Against the Griffons in the second match, the Bearcats set the tone with 8-1 wins in all three of the doubles matches. The decisive wins continued in singles play with all six going in straight sets and three 6-0, 6-0 shutouts.

The Bearcats fell to Northwest Missouri Thursday night before beating Fort Hays Friday morning. Rain forced only completion of the singles matches with FHSU and wiped out a scheduled matchup with Lincoln.

The SBU women (9-4, 5-2 MIAA) host Arkansas Ft-Smith at 1 p.m. and Graceland (Iowa) at 6 p.m. this Friday, April 9.
