ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Senior Jenny Blair earned her second win in the 200m dash in as many weeks as the SBU Bearcat track teams competed at the Washington University Invitational. Blair, who won the 200 at Pittsburg State last week, improved her time by almost a full second to net the win. Freshman Corie Chuning took third in the race, just .32 seconds behind her teammate. The pair switched roles in the 100m dash, as Chuning took the win (12.21 seconds) with Blair finishing just behind for second place. Another freshman, Anna Glenn, earned her best finish of the season in the discus, with a throw of 36.48 meters, good for third.
On the men's side, Cameron Ayers took fourth place in the 800m run for the second straight week. Ayers ran about five seconds faster in the 800 than in his last appearance, with a time of 1:56.34. Senior Jeremy Glassmaker earned a fourth place result as well, in the 5000m run, with a time of 14:57.74. Glassmaker finished three spots higher than his seeded time. Freshman Chance Byrd had a solid result in the pole vault, finishing sixth with a vault of 3.95 meters.
The Bearcat women finished sixth out of 17 teams while the SBU men were 14th out of 25 squads. This event was added to the Bearcat outdoor schedule after their original opener at Central Methodist was canceled due to the weather.
The Bearcats hit the road again next weekend, splitting the team between two events. Part of the squad will travel to the University of Arkansas to compete in the John McDonnell Invitational, while the rest of the team will head back to Pittsburg, Kansas, for the Pitt State Gorilla Classic.
