KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The SBU Bearcat men's tennis team, who shared the MIAA regular season title with Northwest Missouri and Washburn, will be the number two seed at the 2010 MIAA Men's Tennis Championship Tournament. Northwest Missouri drew the top seed in a drawing, with SBU second and Washburn third.
Top-seeded NWMSU will play the winner of fourth-seeded Truman and fifth-seeded Nebraska-Omaha while SBU (11-9, 4-1 MIAA) will play the winner of third-seeded Washburn and sixth seed Emporia State. Both first round matches will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 24 from the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City. The semifinal matches will take place at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, or one and a half hours after completion of all first round matches.
The regular season was a tight race between the purple Bearcats, green Bearcats and Ichabods with each squad going 4-1 in conference action. Washburn defeated SBU 5-4, SBU defeated Northwest Missouri 5-3 and Northwest Missouri topped Washburn 5-4.
The championship and third place matches will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 25.
