SBU golfers finish 4th at MIAA Championships; Nipper & Sellin tie for third

Both Bearcat seniors earn All-MIAA honors for second straight season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --
For the second year in a row, Bearcat golfers Brad Nipper and Justin Sellin recorded top ten finishes at the MIAA Championships, helping SBU to a fourth place team finish. Nipper and Sellin each posted three-round scores of ten over par 226, which tied them for third with Missouri Southern's Stephen Boyd.

After leading following round one, Nipper slipped a bit in rounds two and three, posting rounds of 69, 75 and 82. Sellin recorded an opening round 77, and followed that with a 72 and then 77. SBU's Bryan Steele tied for 21st at +19 (78-76-81=235). Josh Bronn came in tied for 28th at +22 (79-80-79=238) and Matt Buschman was right behind at +23 (78-83-78=239).

Justin Yoder of Central Missouri took top individual honors with an even par 216 while Washburn's Dustin Yeager was second at nine over par 225. Central Missouri took home the team title with three round mark of 893, while Washburn was second at 907 and Missouri Southern was third at 918. SBU finished at 920 in fourth, nine shots ahead of Truman in fifth (929).

Nipper (3rd) and Sellin (5th) both finished in the top 10 of the regular season standings, by which they earned All-MIAA honors for the second straight season. Not only did SBU finish fourth at the MIAA Championships, but also took fourth in the regular season team standings. Points were based on each team's finish at four events during the fall and spring seasons.

The Bearcats will now await this weekend's selection of golfers for the NCAA South Central Regional, to be held on May 3-5 at The Territory Golf Club in Duncan, Oklahoma.
