LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Senior Jeremy Glassmaker's win highlights the success seen by a number of Bearcat athletes at the prestigious Kansas Relays. Glassmaker ran a 3:55.67 in the unseeded 1500m run, posting not just the fastest time of his heat, but for the event. Glassmaker's time, had he been entered in the seeded 1500m run, would have netted him seventh against top competition.

On the women's side, SBU's 4x100m relay team ran the best qualifying time of the Relays, finishing in 47.48. The foursome of Jasmine Sanford (who also played for the SBU women's basketball team), Corie Chuning, Tyrahnique Thomas, and Jenny Blair were edged in the final, however, as the University of Nebraska won the event over SBU by just 0.3 seconds.

SBU had a strong showing in both the men's and women's 200m dash. Jenny Blair kicked things off with a 24.66 in the 200m that, while earning her a third-place finish in her qualifying heat, would have won either of the other two heats. Frank Grant, Jr. earned a berth in the finals with a run of 21.48 seconds, finishing second in his heat, and third overall in the prelims. Blair posted a 24.95 in the final, good for fourth place, sandwiched between a pair of sprinters from Division I Seton Hall. Grant ran just a shade under his qualifying time, at 21.51, just 0.03 seconds slower than in the prelims, earning him third place in the final.

Meanwhile, in Warrensburg, Michael McCampbell took the 10,000m run title at the UCM Mule Relays. McCampbell's time of 31:22.80 was just 0.11 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Stephan Albin earned a top ten finish in the high jump, with a leap of 1.85 meters, and Garry Berra finished 8th in the Javelin, throwing for a distance of 46.25 meters.

The Bearcats are back in action again next week, as they travel to Joplin for the Williams/Laptad Invitational at Missouri Southern, starting Friday, April 23. Afterwards, the 'Cats will travel to another Big 12 school, as they compete at the Sooner Invitational at the University of Oklahoma, on Saturday, April 24.
