TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Due to a high probability in the forecast in the Tahlequah area on Friday and Saturday, Northeastern State head coach Ron Cox has cancelled the NSU Tennis Classic. The SBU women's tennis team was scheduled to play Cameron, Southeastern Oklahoma State and Northeastern State during the two-day event. The event will not be rescheduled.
The SBU women will travel to Springfield on Tuesday, April 20 to take on Drury from the Cooper Tennis Complex, beginning at 4 p.m. Also that day at 4 p.m., the SBU and Drury men's tennis teams will do battle in Bolivar from the Bryant Tennis Center.
Next week's matches with Drury are the Bearcat squads' final preparation prior to the MIAA Championships in Kansas City, which are held on Saturday and Sunday, April 24-25 at the Plaza Tennis Center. The SBU men have already clinched a share of the regular season title, but seeds are still to be determined with Washburn and Northwest Missouri also in contention for the top spot. The SBU women currently sit third behind Northwest Missouri and Washburn.
