KANSAS CITY, Mo. – One hundred twenty-three Southwest Baptist University student-athletes earned academic recognition from the MIAA when the 2009-10 awards were announced recently. Eight of those achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs and a spot on the Academic Excellence list. Eight individuals also received MIAA Scholar Athlete recognition, having a 3.5 cumulative GPA and being named All-MIAA in their sport. All 123 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll.

SBU women's soccer head coach Robert Podeyn has written and recently released Coaching the Complete Goalkeeper, available through World Class Coaching, at www.worldclasscoaching.com. This is Podeyn's third book, after releasing Dutch Drills for Total Team Training and Coaching the Dutch 4-3-3 last year.

BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Southwest Baptist University women’s soccer program announced the signing of nine recruits. “I am excited about these additions. After our season last year and finishing 7-9-3 and seventh place in conference, I felt like we needed to upgrade and add depth to every aspect of our game, and I think we’ve done that with this recruiting class,” said SBU head coach Rob Podeyn.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Senior Bearcat Caitlin Tull was named to the All-MIAA Second Team, her fourth All-MIAA award in four seasons at SBU. Six other Bearcats were named All-MIAA Honorable Mention, including freshman goalkeeper Megan Link, defender/forward Taylor Vick, senior defender Vanessa Roher, midfielders Kelly Isaac and Lindsey Boden, and forward Jaymye Ross.
