KANSAS CITY, Mo. – One hundred twenty-three Southwest Baptist University student-athletes earned academic recognition from the MIAA when the 2009-10 awards were announced recently. Eight of those achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs and a spot on the Academic Excellence list. Eight individuals also received MIAA Scholar Athlete recognition, having a 3.5 cumulative GPA and being named All-MIAA in their sport. All 123 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Bearcat third baseman Krysta Baderdeen was named to the All-MIAA Softball Second Team, as voted on by conference coaches, while pitcher Josie Rose, first baseman Nina Amaro-Garcia, and shortstop Latasha Baderdeen were given All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors.
BOLIVAR, Mo. – The SBU Bearcats attempt at a berth into the MIAA Tournament fell short against #9 Emporia State. The ‘Cats needed to take both games of a doubleheader to have a shot, but dropped both, 8-1 and 2-0. Krysta Baderdeen went 2-for-3 in both games, scoring SBU’s lone run while getting called out at home twice.
BOLIVAR, Mo. – It comes down to Tuesday’s makeup contest with #9 Emporia State for the SBU softball Bearcats. The Bearcats need a sweep of the Hornets to put themselves in position for a berth at the MIAA Tournament. It’s a logjam ahead of SBU for the final three spots in the conference tourney, with five teams battling for those spots.
