KANSAS CITY, Mo. – One hundred twenty-three Southwest Baptist University student-athletes earned academic recognition from the MIAA when the 2009-10 awards were announced recently. Eight of those achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs and a spot on the Academic Excellence list. Eight individuals also received MIAA Scholar Athlete recognition, having a 3.5 cumulative GPA and being named All-MIAA in their sport. All 123 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll.
DUNCAN, Okla. -- At the NCAA D-II South Central/Midwest Super Regional, a loss on the second hole of a sudden death playoff kept SBU senior golfer Brad Nipper from advancing to the NCAA national championships. After entering the final round tied for first, Nipper shot a third round 77 and finished at six over par (222) and tied for fourth place at the event.
DUNCAN, Okla. -- While other scores were drifting higher, SBU senior golfer Brad Nipper stayed consistent and moved from 13th place into a tie for first, atop the NCAA D-II Men's South Central/Midwest Region leaderboard. On Tuesday, Nipper followed his first day 71 with a second round score of 74. Nipper stands tied at one over par (145) with Nick Gunthorpe of Grand Valley State.
