Southwest Baptist University women’s soccer program announced the signing of nine recruits. “I am excited about these additions. After our season last year and finishing 7-9-3 and seventh place in conference, I felt like we needed to upgrade and add depth to every aspect of our game, and I think we’ve done that with this recruiting class,” said SBU head coach Rob Podeyn.
RUSSELVILLE, Ark. -- SBU's softball season opener Tuesday at Arkansas Tech has been canceled due inclement weather. The Bearcats and Golden Suns were scheduled to play a doubleheader but the games were called off due to winter weather and no makeup date has been announced yet.
WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The SBU indoor track and field teams competed this weekend at the Central Missouri Mule Relays. The SBU women led the way with four event victories, including wins by a pair of freshmen -- Corie Chuning and Crissie Owensby. Chuning won the 60 meter dash with a new school record, edging the previous record holder, senior Jenny Blair, in the same event. Crissie Owensby had a new personal best in her win in the 5000 meters.
DURANT, Okla. -- A pair of comeback attempts fell short today for SBU baseball, as they drop a pair of games to Southeastern Oklahoma, 6-3 and 8-5. Centerfielder Niko Saladis went 3-for-6 between the two games, with two runs and an RBI. Junior Stephen Davis had a solid day at the plate in the opening game, going 3-for-3 and scoring the first of three Bearcat runs, in a comeback attempt in the late innings.
